Asparagus Pot
Hand raised, chiseled etched, tinned with cast fittings, ironwood. Beginning with a 15" circle of 14 gauge brass. Has anyone seen my snarling hammer? Art Nouveau was born of the influence of Japanese Art on the Western World in the 1850's. First was impressionism, then Japaneseme graphics, led to the fully realized Art Nouveau period, 1890-1910. Since discovering this style in the 1970's, I've travelled to Europe twice to seek examples in architecture and jewelry. The graphic balance and accelerating curves of Art Nouveau continue to inform my work. This piece was made a while ago....I'm always working for the cogent distillation of shape and color, stumbling into beauty, wisdom and humor with a relaxed sense of indulgence along the way. KC
